At Pearl Oasis, we guard your information using Secure Sockets Layer
(SSL) technology-the technology that most web sites use to safeguard
credit card and other personal information. When you give us your credit
card or debit card number, SSL encrypts all personal information including
your card number, name and address so that only Pearl Oasis is allowed
to decode it.
How can you be sure any connection is secure? Simply look at the lower
left-hand corner of your browser window after accessing a server. If
you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending upon your browser),
the SSL is active and your information secure. You can also double-check
by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure
server, the first characters of the site address will change from 'http'
to 'https.' At Pearl Oasis we create a secure connection for all pages
where you enter credit card, shipping, and billing information.
We Go One Step Further
In addition to industry standards for secure servers (we use 128-bit
encryption), we have adopted best practice security for your payment
information. When we access your information for invoicing, we access
it through a secure server connection too. Many sites on the Internet
offer secure servers for payment but then access your information over
insecure connection. That defeats the security. In addition, all our
computers are protected by anti-virus programs that are updated continuously
and we install all security updates immediately. You never have to worry
about the safety of your credit card information when you shop at Pearl
Oasis.
Your Safe Shopping Guarantee
Under federal law, your bank generally cannot hold you liable for more
than $50.00 of fraudulent charges made using your credit card or debit
card if you report the fraud promptly, and many banks waive even that
amount. If your bank does require you to pay the $50.00 or any part
of it, Pearl Oasis will pay the entire amount for you, up to the full
$50.00 as long as 1) you have notified your credit card or debit card
company in accordance with their reporting procedures, 2) the unauthorized
use of your credit card or debit card resulted from no fault of your
own, and 3) the loss resulted from purchases made at Pearl Oasis while
using our secure server. Your liability may be greater than $50.00 if
you do not promptly report the loss to your bank or credit card company,
and Pearl Oasis will not pay any additional liability that results from
a delay in reporting the loss.
